Recommended Posts

my names eumo, im 19 this month and Im pretty pissed off as im certain, iv given myself this annoying condition. iv got the doctors on monday to confirm. basically iv used md ( not loads ) and 2cb ( deffo abused it ) and last weekend someone put a bit of mxe fake ket into my face and after 8 hours rolling i started getting 2cb type hallucinations, couldnt sleep despite being up for for 2 days straight. this sparked extreme paranoia, i can handle myself but not this. gut felt fear, anxiety, i thought id given myself seratonin syndrome. anyway. 3 days on and im getting closed eye visuals, visual static, feel a little bit ketted up ( feel outside myself ) head pressure, brain fog and i then research these symptoms and here i am. im learning to accept the snowy surfaces. occasional little red dots if i get stressed, iv also cut out all toxins from my life. are there any bits of advice people have for me. the second night i started seeing the 2cb dots after stressing out and had a panic attack but the past few days iv been happier than usual and quite chilled out

Think positivly and ignore all of the symptoms that you can. Distract yourself with things to keep your mind off it. I believe that if you acknowledge your visuals you will prolong/worsen them. I started getting symptoms about two months ago and feel like I am now very close to fully recovering. If you do recover don't make the mistake that many others have by going back to drugs and giving themselves worse permanent symptoms.

il never go back to drugs man. the odd beer would be nice but no more drugs. iv just felt the first effect of HPPD. yesterday i lost my job and was suicidally depressed for hours but im bi polar so thats no shock. but i went out with my parents to a little gig in a pub and felt better, the sensory overload musta helped me out.

i have the doctor tomorrow. should i accept medication if offered? and what. any vitamins etc to take? the visuals are what im worried about. im gunna get back into bmxing and mixing and live a healthy life

Bipolar I or II? Are you on any meds right now? A multi-vitamin will help, but not very much at all... It really depends on what med they want to put you on. If you can stay away from benzos and barbiturates. I am not really sure if they still prescribe barbs up in the UK. They are really rare to get stateside for sure. Unfortunately, for me, barbiturates and benzos but barbs especially did wonders for my visuals. They worked better than anything else, and if you have GAD they are great anxiolytics... But I can't take them anymore. If you are having trouble staying away from the liquor, benzos probably aren't the best idea. They can be quite addictive. If you do go on them, maybe just get a few doses per month in order to manage the symptoms when they are at their worst... Plus, not taking them every day you won't develop chemical dependence or tolerance. Sorry to hear you are allergic to psychedelics now ;) it's really no fun at first, but things will get better.

we dont really rate bipolar in number here, my doctor kinda just pussyfooted around it, refered me to a councellor who never showed up and smacked me on prozac which i stopped taking because it was dire. anyway its not too much of an issue

im not sure about the barbs and so on but il ask. i really just want the visuals to fuck off because they annoy me so if theyl help, great. i worry theyl get worse. i panic, then i get stupid thoughts, but im strong minded and within a few seconds i come back to norm. i also have the will power of a tank and im not easily addicted so that wouldnt be an issue.

really appreciate the advice thank u man. if my visuals etc. go away in a month or so will i be able to drink again. im scottish its my job to drink. i could accept not drinking if needed but i like to think that if i heal i can drink again

My issues have all started dissapearing in the last week or so after about 2 months of symptoms. Just don't look for the visuals and they will intrude less and less..

I didn't need medication, but it could help you. Just stay away from the addictive stuff.

I plan on starting drinking occasionally again soon but don't overdo it because some people say it has worsened their symptoms.

You've found out what you have early so are in a good position to help yourself and mind get better. I didnt find out about hppd until 3 years in.

Do everything you can now because I think the longer it goes on possibly the less chances there are for improvements to be made. Follow any advice on the success/ recovery post's (there are a few on here). Mainly don't think about it, exercise every day if poss, eat a diet of natural wholesome foods (veg, fruit etc), sleep well, challenge yourself mentally, keep busy with hobbies/ whatever you enjoy and keep as sociable as you can would be my advice.

Try and forget about drinking for a while as hard as this is, and after a few months see where you're at and go from there.

Best of luck

thanks guys. basically i know my drugs. and i knew when i was on ketamine and mdma, and started seeing 2cb hallucinations something was NOT right. also im chill as fuck, so when im in a corner shuddering crying wanting to die, something isnt right. next day when i woke up and shit was sparkly and a bit trippy i came on the internet. ruled out seratonin syndrome. found HPPD. ID'ed it and phoned the doctor.

the next few months will consist of NO booze, drugs, caffine

bmx, mixing drum n bass, ps3 and lots of socialising. i might start reading more and get the brain ticking over
