I Fixed what I thought was HPPD. Please Read.

Hello. This is my first post. I'm sorry for the length but I didn't want to miss anything. I strongly urge you to read this because maybe I can't help everyone but I know I can help people with this information. I used to visit this website because I was absolutly sure I had hppd. I experienced a bad acid trip approximately 6 months ago. I essentially had a panic attack mixed with acid and I thought I was going to die. When I came out of it I felt as if I couldn't feel emotion anymore. However, the next day I woke up and felt ok so I never did acid again but I continued to smoke weed. Now My health I would say had been someone deterioating over the last two years. Nothing medical (doctors find nothing wrong) but I just felt shitty. Tired, lethargic, no libido and just no enthusiasm. Now I was at a families for dinner and was staying over night and ate a big meal (many courses and desert). I experienced what was essentially the same feeling as when I did acid and was I started panicking and thought I was having a heart attack, stroke, brain aneurism, something of that nature. My dad took me to the hospital and they found nothing wrong with me other than slightly low sodium levels and told me that I just had anxiety and was having all the signs of a panic attack. I had never been much of an anxious person and so this both surprised me and unerved me. Now when this happened I worried that I was perhaps contracting a mental disorder and this is what it was like to go crazy from drugs. I spent my days as alone as possible going to school (I go to university in Canada) and them coming home and staying in my room. The worst was the feelings of what this website calls depersonalization and deraelization. I felt like I was living in a dream and wasn't myself. I also experienced bad versions of visual snow (seeing little blue and red spots especially in the dark. Now what I began to notice is that when I ate alot of carbohydrates I had symptoms of the panic,,,, and this is when I found it. I don't know if this is the exact medical reason but I discovered something called candida. Essentially it is a gut disorder that many people experience to varying degrees and mine was bad. The reason it causes these symptoms is that it has no harmful affects other than your body must fight to kill the infection that food causes when you have an overgrowth of this stuff (candida). If your like me your body has been fighting these infections from years and your body is just getting exhausted, particularly your adrenals. From what I've learned is that candida feeds on carbohydrates and any form of sugar. I began the candida diet which consists of only non-starchy vegetables (broccoli, spinach, zhuccini etc.), meats (not processed, my favourite being ground beef due to its cheapness) and then you can also use oils( ie. olive oil). I highly recommend you visit websites and research it yourself. I've been eating this way for approximately 2 months. The symptoms don't lift immediately but from day 1 you feel them lessening in degree. I have begun to feel so light and happy. I can't describe how amazing I feel. If I can help even one person lift from this hell and into the real world I will be happy but I hope that I can help everyone. Atleast try the diet out. The body at least in my opinion is not meant to eat all the carbs, dairy and processed food we eat.

I wish you all the best and please post if you experience favourable or even unfavourable results.

LCHF as you are describing your diet worked well for me too. It forces the body to produce it's energy from ketos instead of glucos (sugar, carbohydrates etc). This diet works as an anti-convulsant itself which is also effective when treating epilepsi. I'm not eating that diet right now, but when I did (roughly for 8 weeks with HPPD) I felt much better, and the body feels great. I think I'll start soon again.

I know other HPPD-sufferers that has success with this too. Good luck!

I appreciate your point. I have heard this as well and I believe that even if someone does have hppd that it would help. I however believe that I didn't have hppd at all and that it was just stress and anxiety making me believe it was.

huh, the last couple of days i discovered i had a smelly belly button(gross i know), i looked it up and it talked about candida being a possible issue. I've been having terrible stomach problems as well for months. Maybe and hopefully this could be the problem, I'm gonna make a appointment with my doctor. thanks for the tip.

Hey men, I think fungals are in relation with hppd symptoms. When I started, I felt really exhausted and I eat now eating better. Yesterday, I played one of football matches on my live.

This is interesting, I feel as though this could be what is affecting me, I've been having stomach problems for about 6 months now. I think I'll research this further. Thank you!

I made a post about how I mostly conquered hppd not so long ago... And yes I believe candida and other possible fungal strains like aspergillus are responsible. Though this goes against what people have been taught there whole life's most doctors have never even heard of these infections causing anything more than a skin complaint. So sadly I'm sure most people here and other places see me as a quack now, which is really frustrating because I know how desperate and lonely hppd is and if I even helped one person out of that darkness it would help me come to terms with my own suffering and lost time, it wouldn't feel so pointless. I am happy with my improved state but I am angry and bitter at a system that perpetuates band aid treatments instead of cures solely for profit from what I can asertain. People are welcome to message me for help with beating fungal infections I have been to hell and back trying to beat this thing.

Also if you have seen improvements in your hppd by treating for fungal infection I would love to hear your story, I want to put together a body of evidence... In what form I'm not sure yet but the more people who post success with this the more serious people will take it.

I recomend probiotics it's the fastest way to get a handle on the stomach issues. The best brand I have tried is Symbion they are powerful but expensive, Bio Kult is also good but it is more gentle.... on the wallet also but it may take longer to see results. Another good idea is to try a digestive system cleaner like Oxy powder or Mag07 which is cheaper but not vegan. Always use the cleaners a few hours apart from probiotics as you could well be just flushing them from your system before they take hold... The two treatments seem to work synergistically and I can't recommend them enough.

Hey Penny arcade. I posted pretty much everything I dealt with above. I absolutly agree that it is frustrating to deal with doctors who don't know about the effects this can have. there is a naturopath on youth called candida crusher. Hes a little old fashioned but he has an entire channel based on these things.

I really feel hppd and this are related is because people who had bad drug experiences related feelings of helpless to those drugs. Candida had very strong effects on my mental state, but as i said it gets immensly better. I continue to eat in the same way of vegetables, meats and oil but I am beginning to experiment with occasionally trying an off the diet item. Now at most I have tried is once in a week. I don't want to push it but I feel that my first indicator of going down to bad path again would be trouble falling asleep (also probably the best effect of being healthy again). So I am going to continue to experiment but I keep this thread on my favourites and check every few days because I want to help as many as I can. So I can hopefully respond to any questions people may have.

Get r done.

” I had after images, halos around objects, trailers, bolts of lightning, and of course, VS. I still had a headace after my initial onset and had to go to a doctor to get meds to relieve the headache. After I started taking 400 mgs of CoQ10 for some time, I suddenly noticed that the after images, halos around objects, trailers, bolts of lightning had ALL DISAPPEARED”

      Hi guys,
Im writing this after a week of research done about hppd on google. I couldn't find much about. But the reason i'm ending up here is because i need some advice.
So a bit more then a week ago i took ecstasy for the first time. I took 1/4 of a pill and 3 hours later i took 1/4 again. I didn't feel too much about the "high". It feelt good and dance all night. When i walked came out of the club (7am) my vision was bit blurry (probably because of being in a dark club all night). Then I went home and my parents were awake. Someone told me to look into light to hide dilated pupils so i did.
Now the next morning i was scared i damaged my brain so i went online and searched the internet. At somepoint i stumbled across hppd. I immediately got scared i had this so i checked if i had any of the symptoms.
Since i read about hppd i have the "visual snow" all the time, except for when I'm busy with other things. but for the last week I've been obsessing about the visual snow a lot.
I see a bit of a glare around lights but im not sure if i had that before.
      Some lights have a starshape
I have after images only when i look to bright lights for a few seconds and the after images dont last long.
That's about all the symptoms i have.  I don't seem to have walls morph into shapes or anything. I also don't have any of the depersonalition or derealization nor do i have depression.
Now my real question do I have hppd?
I have OCD so i had anxiety before i did the drug and because of OCD i tend to obsess about a lot of issues, health or other.
Also i want to mention that I have done cannabis and alcohol before and since i have my symptoms i tried it once and it didn't seem to worsen the symptoms during the "high" of cannabis or alcohol.
I might be overthinking this but some advice would be appreciated.
      Thank you,
      Henkneedshelp

About two weeks ago i did pure mdma(i dont want any criticism i know its not smart to do it with hppd)
Anyways this leads me to my question, as of recently ive noticed my hppd getting worse, the day after i did the molly it got really bad, but then i took my dose of lamotrigine and by the next day my hppd had been back to baseline, that was over two weeks ago.
The last 3-4 days ive been having a few episodes of depersonalization.
I should mention that up until last night i had been doing nofap for the last 21 days, because i suffer from PIED and i want it to get better.
Last night i fapped three times and it ended up making me super paranoid and i couldnt fall asleep for hours.
Anyways, my question is, can hppd not worsen until weeks after you consumed the drug? Like i said ive been fine up until the last few days, i assume last night fapping 3 times isnt helping my anxiety today but who knows.
Sorry for going so off topic multiple times, but i think its best you know all the info thats been going on.

The DSM states about HPPD but my psychologist told me the depersonalisation/derealisation symptoms are not a part of the diagnosis.
Furthermore, what is the mechanism for feeling emotional flattened out? If this is caused by anxiety, then shouldn't you be able to treat the anxiety, in order to get your emotions back?
