I find it very hard to look people in their face, just something about it that makes me look away. No visual snow or Hallucinations but some wavy-ness in the dark and right after awakening. Everything looks very flat as if its not 3 dimensional & I want to stress again how hard it is to look at people. Everything is very flat but intense. This is the outcome of 2 LSD trips, first one bad the other one good which I thought would reverse it but kinda just combined the both trips.

I had that flat, or 2D vision you're talking about.

I agree with jimmyb84 in saying that sounds more like a depersonalization/derealization symptom, more specifically derealization.

After about 3-4 months mine started going away and now I don't have that issue anymore.  (I developed HPPD 5 and a half months ago.)

Sounds like blake also had the same experience as me, just slightly longer.

Give it time and be patient.

It will ease up and eventually go away.  Just remember that.

Please describe more about why it is hard to look at people?  Is it because they are flat or weird?  Is it shame?

Hi my names Tina. Did your hppd come on right away or did it happen a couple months later? Mine didn't show up until like 5 months after last use. I used mdma =\ but basically I have all the symptoms and it's been almost 5 months for me too.

I find this my worst symptom. It use to be much worse then what it is now but its still there for 7 hole years now. When I stop at red lights I try to focus on the red light then a mark or something on my windscreen. I keep doing this and try to hold focus for a couple seconds on each one. Its something I'm trying to see if it'll help

I wanna say it's both. & Also I feel very isolated like Jim Morrison's Band members in "The Doors" & the guy on youtube who explains hppd also confronted this symptom and said he cant look people in the eye because then he gets an overall horrific image of the face, i feel the same.

I came to a conclusion that anxiety is simply fear , we cant give into it we have to fight it or it will swallow our energy, so we can call it and classify it as much as we want but it is simply fear, meant for overcoming & creating energy.
I took 4 mg's of Xanax a couple days ago so dp/dr shouldn't be the issue for now, before it comes back i must face fears.

No unlike yours it came on right away, the next day i felt very disconnected.. probably a month later I tried to reverse my trip with a good one, tho it was colorful and less dark it only worsened it. I realize my behavior resembles my behavior when on the trip. After the first one I was very angry, after the second very quiet but thoughts raising. Now it's just a combination of both.

I had the flat look for about 6 months. Went away over time and by now it is almost completely gone.

Dope, I appreciate the positive news seeming how a lot of people on here can be negative.

It's been a year and 2 months now. I still had it after 6 months (it only gradually began going away then).

It happened to me from shrooms and it took me about 4 days to realize something was wrong.

I had an awkward afterglow the next day or two after which I didn't like, and I actually felt totally fine the third day, but then randomly it kicked in super hard.

But yes, mine was pretty continuous from my trip.

It's interesting that yours showed up 5 months later.

Has it gotten any better within that time?

I've had it for as long as you, but I feel pretty damn normal now. It's the biggest relief I've ever felt in my life.

Yeah im starting to feel normal again too.  At first I hated it and thought it was going to ruin my life.  But now its stabilizing - as in the visual symptoms - it only really bothers me the most when im driving.  I get trails off lamp posts and cars leave weird ghost trails behind them.  I guess my biggest fear is that since there are "visible" brain abnormalities shown through the fact that our vision has changed, are there "invisible" brain changes that we cant see, like to parts of the brain that control heart rate, breathing, even our personalities, etc?  I fear this will cause like early onset dementia or something in our 70s.  I know I am going down the runaway train with this...but basically I hope it stays this way or gets better because I cant handle any more symptoms lol.

Yes there are 'invisible' changes, but as you said, you don't need to runaway with fears.

As for dementia, there are no studies indicating this from HPPD.  There are 2 areas to protect against dementia: diet and exercise.

1)  Everything that leads to heart disease (high blood pressure and diabetes) leads to dementia -- the vascular health of the brain

2)  The more you use your brain, the less chance of dementia.  For example, if you know 2 languages instead of 1, you actually cut the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease in half.  So use it or loose it.

As for flat vision, trail/tracers, fuzziness, these symptoms tend to be dopamine related.

It takes time for visual symptoms to stabilize - often over 6 months.  So things shift around which can be spooky.  Just give it time.  If anxiety about it is ruining your life, then try to get some benzos to take the edge off for a while.  Otherwise I don't recommend trying medication until its been long enough to know it isn't fully resolving on its own.  Which meds that help will depend on the individual, so it isn't a straight forward journey.

Again, give it time.  Live healthy - food, drink, exercise, sleep,...  Many people resolve in time with just doing this.

For a while I felt autistic and schizophrenic.  Conversations with people made no sense, and I couldn't make sense of the world... or fucking anything for the matter.

I thought for sure that I had triggered some deep seeded issue that was only going to show more of its hideous face as I grew old and senile.

I don't feel that way anymore.  It's all almost entirely gone and I am positive I did not set myself up for later brain disorders when I'm older.

This was all just a temporary (5 months) mindfuck caused by psychedelics.
