disguyhere
I just watched Bronson.. I didn't really enjoy it. But I never really enjoy prison movies, as they usually depict a lot of ignorance and violence hiding behind the veil of retribution. I liked the Dhamma Brothers though. Also just watched the first episode of "Orange is the new black".. Initially it looks like a women with messed up values that goes to jail for something that's rather harmless, and has no clue how to deal with it. I don't think I'm going to continue watching it. If anyone has some good movie or series recommendations, I'd appreciate it. hehe yeaaah bronson is a difficult movie to "enjoy" .. on one hand bronson is the center of the movie so you feel the need as a movie watcher to empathize with him.. but as a person he is the purest end of reprehensibility. in the system for the sake of being in the system because he knows nothing else. The real story of charles bronson is fascinating. his real world artwork sells still and he had a whole little subculture of followers of all his antics.. but he's still flat out just a messed up mind that nobody knew how to handle and just made his situation worse and worse.. so yeah .. hard to enjoy the movie but i really moreso enjoyed the performance. hardy is nearly unrecognizable in the role, and when you compare his performance to the real life bronson its insane how much he captured with it. hardy : http://terrymalloyspigeoncoop.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/bronson.jpg the real bronson : http://i4.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article1873474.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/Charles-Bronson-1873474.jpg http://www.bronsonworkout.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/charles-bronson-587x500.png http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/jul2011/5/0/charles-bronson-free-picture-238563588.jpg http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00731/charlesbronson_280_731180a.jpg think hardy went beyond the real bronson's physique.. but hardy also has a habit of getting ridiculously ripped.. ie the movie "Warrior" him and christian bale probably trade secrets on how to friggen change their body up reaaaly quick for their roles. Syntheso
I quite enjoyed the film "Garden State".... It will probably ring true with alot of hppders Just watched that, quite enjoyed it as well. Quite an unpretentious charm to it. 25th Hour, Wings of Desire (see my avatar), Solaris (the modern one, although the original is great), Brief Encounter, The Days of Wine and Roses, The Majestic... off the top of my head some of my favourite films. Anything by Lynch, Kubrick, Bergman gets a big thumbs up from me. Brazil by Terry Gilliam (who directed Fear and Loathing).. anything by him is quite good.. Twelve Monkeys too. Waking Life is sure to be a fav for HPPD'ers. Link to comment

onedayillsailagain
Ghormeh: thanks for that! Sounds really awesome from my initial glance at the description. I'll watch a few episodes and report back Link to comment
Syntheso
I watched naked with David thewlis in his first starring role. He's an egomaniac who has to prove his intelligence to everyone even though he is a total scum bag. Great flick but his character is despicable That's a brilliant film... definitely Mike Leigh's best I reckon. I also recommend a short funny series (if you like the sort of dry, stupid humour), Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Link to comment
onedayillsailagain
Wow I watched Fringe's pilot. Absolutely amazing! And plausible too.. well I don't know about the transparent skin, but the rest/most of it is quite plausible!Shows like Eureka and Dr. Who are just science fiction, and this might be fiction as well, but so far it shows to be quite realistic compared to most sci-fi I've seen.Really enjoyed it! I hope the rest will be as intriguing. Damn it's such a thick plot though, I wonder if I can follow the entire story.Again, thanks for that recommendation Link to comment
Ghormeh Sabzi
It only gets better as the seasons progress! The plot becomes more clear over the course of the seasons as well. Its potential realism - things which may be theoretically possible - is one of its great qualities. Some things do raise an eyebrow, but generally it's pretty logical. Link to comment
