  1. i used to get it during my early hppd days like 2 months ago but now very rarely. Kinda annoying but nothing that bad.
  2. YOO im a red wings fan too!! Doing not too bad so far, although they always do awesome in the season
  3. Hey guys, my doctor agreed to put me on sinemet if I can come up with some medical/peer-reviewed scholarly sources that say it can help. Would any of you know of any that I can show him?
  4. L-theanine is awesome and very healthy for immune system i take it once every 2 days and before a night of drinking. For me it noticeably calms me down at the 250 mg range, definitly worth getting for those above average anxiety days. And visual as for GABA being inhibitory that does not really explain why it is calming, Gaba just as much inhibits neurons that inhibit excitation (thus causing excitation) as it inhibits excitation.
  5. Hey wolf, is there anything in your personal life thats changed negatively recently? For me my physical symptoms get better if im happier or way worse if i get sad/bummed out/frustrated. I used to blame everything negative on my hppd but its not true before hppd i have had bad days sometimes weeks as well, with hppd tho you can keep blaming hppd even for stuff that would be there even if you could percieve everything normally and you can fall in a frustrated anxious trap. (I fall in it quite often). For me what works is meditating and asking myself "What am I really anxious about? Is it that everything is feeling messed up right now? Is it that i fear i wont be able to have a normal life? Or is it "Im having a fight with a friend" "Im having relationship troubles" "Im worried with hppd i wont be able to maximize my career?" Remember hppd cannot hurt you or limit you. Only you can.
  6. Alright guys a little update on kava. Great thing to take before bed, something to unwind at the end of the day and even look forward to if your having a bad anxietywise day. A lot softer than alcohol without hangover although you will feel a little less active after a couple hours which is why I only recommend taking it before bedtime maybe while watching a movie or something. I describe the effects as a warm blanket kind of like getting out of the shower and getting into bed Does not seem to be addictive at all. Just make sure you get a good brand because the cheaper ones are not made right and contain the leaves of the plant which is bad for your liver (the root is what you want). Hope this helps and anyone with questions on kava feel free to message me. It does not affect the visuals by the way. Although by lowering anxiety makes you pay less attention to them.
  7. Sinemet is my last solid hope! I must admit I am kind of scared to try it in case it doesn't work as seeing your posts about it have given me a hope that I have not had in a long time. So if I try it and it doesn't work than I fear I am going to be a mess emotionally. Which drug did you guys get hppd from and what are your main symptoms?
  8. my afterimages are my worst hppd symptom lasting up to 8 seconds. Everyone has different lengths of afterimages, just because yours last longer does not mean anything is wrong, afterimages can not hurt you.
  9. yes i have tried valerian, valerian works the same way as benzos in the brain tho and can be slightly addicting.
  10. made your hppd worse how? Permanently or short term? Did you have powdered root or extract? Do you think it was the kava itself that made it worse or was it possibly you feeling less normal and panicking from it? I really need something to relax as I refuse to take any benzos so Im really hoping Kava works for me. It is taking a long time to come in the mail though.
  11. Hey I was wondering if you had previous use with hallucinogens? As ambien is not usually a hallucinogen but if you have latent hppd from a previous trip than for sure a change in consciousness such as ambien could maybe trigger it. Reason I want to know is because I sometimes have difficulty sleeping and was wondering if I should stay clear of ambien.
  12. Yo thats weird Wolf I used salvia soo much this summer. I definitly think the salvia (which is one of the most fucked drugs in my opinion) is responsible for the body feelings as some of my body feelings are similar to salvia. Yea i have tried that wolf70 and it has worked before trying consciously to trip instead of trying to fight your imagination. A drug that has reduced this I find is naltrexone 5 mg. I take it speratically about once a week and not sure if it helps or if it is more a placebo but since I've started taking the naltrexone there is a definite improvement. Take it at least 4 hours before bedtime though.
  13. Hey guys I recently been taking naltrexone, i take like 5 mg (hard to say as i cut up a 50 mg pill into roughly 10 pieces.) The first few days I got hugeee improvement, improvement that is still with me even when I wasn't taking the naltrexone! I now take it spuratically but I am wayy better. Can not say for certain if it was the naltrexone that made me better (I am around 60% better visually with my anxiety almost gone ) as it could be my acceptance of me having hppd or someother psychological phenomen however it did get better after taking naltrexone and so I can not help but recommend this drug to everyone to give it a try.
  14. Hey guys I ordered powdered root Kava online to see if it can give me some relaxation before bedtime. Was wondering whether any of you had tried it and if it is ok to take with hppd? I will give a full report on my experience with it once it comes in the mail and I have tried it a few times.
  15. Wolf, I get your exact same symptoms! I get visuals, anxiety, derealization etc but the worst by far is my body feeling like my body is the entire room or something i know exactly what you are going through! (im not sure what triggered mine, lsd mushrooms m or salvia) but I get INSANE images in my head going a mile a minute especially when trying to go to sleep. These images are like not of this world. I am slowly learning to enjoy them though and accept them. You are not crazy for having these you just have a wild imagination as do I. Feel free to add me on facebook www.facebook.com/pure.ballin if you need someone to talk to about it. Good luck!
  16. I think you should only drink once a week if its for the purpose of "escaping". Cuz yea hangovers suck alot more now and if you drink heavy it's going to affect you for the next day and you dont want to live your life either drunk or hungover and never normal. Alcohol is most likely only going to delay recovery because yes it is definitly not a healthy thing to do, so the less you can do it the better but on the other hand you do have to live a little
  17. alcohol is a temporary cure as it wayy reduces anxiety for me however it makes my visuals worse! hangovers are hellllllll so much worse now and my hppd symptoms all came when i was really hungover, about a week after doing shrooms. However i still drink at least once a week (im in uni so we have alot of parties) and i am greatful for alcohol cuz it gives me a temporary break.
  18. Different types of drugs may increase dopamine/serotonin/norepinephrine in the brain but most drugs have a selective affinity for a certain area in the brain or a certain type of dopaminergic/serotonergic receptor, and there are many different types of receptors. Two drugs that work by "increasing serotonin" can thus have vastly different and even opposite affects as most neurotransmitters are used for countless functions in different parts of the brain. Klonopin indirectly works on dopamine as it works on GABA receptors which mostly inhibit dopamine release.
  19. Awesome thanks so much! I am going to ask my psychiatrist for this. I took dexedrine today (2.5 mg) to study for a test and almost all my symptoms except visual snow and and a bit of afterimages are gone! Feels good! Dexedrine or dextroamphetamine works mostly on dopamine I think so dopamine does play a big role in our disorder. Sinemet which increases dopamine hopefully will have a similar effect but without the speedy feeling these adhd medicines have.
  20. This drug, an opiod antagonist is actually kind of weird. Third day with it and so far it seems It helps with dp/dr and slighly the visuals, although after it wears off i find the visuals to be slightly worse for a while. It makes me extremely tired, and just want to lounge all day, (which is good although I have exams to study for), it does seem to be slightly euphoric too although it diminishes pleasure like food and sex. Anxiety for me is really reduced although for most people it seems to be increased. I am on a really small dose however 10 mg. Naltrexone is supposedly also recommended for everyone in small doses (2-3mg) daily to help boost the immune system however this claim isn't well supported. I recommend any hppd/dp/dr person give this a try as it does have an effect and is better than nothing and is not addictive at all considering it is mostly used as an anti-addiction drug lol.
  21. Im wondering whether you have experienced any side effects/ withdrawal symptoms. I do not want to get addicted to anything so am refusing to take benzo's but really hating this hppd hell and really need something for those bad days. Also does it help with your visuals? My visuals have ramped up as of late and making it hard to see.
  22. For me things that help. I have not had dp/dr for very long (2 months) but here are some things I have done to combat it. 1. Sunglasses!! dp/dr makes you feel disconnected plus the visuals of hppd are often light induced, putting on some shades can help me pretend some of the visuals are just cuz my glasses are smudged plus less light often makes for less visuals. Feeling too surreal? Putting the glasses on or if you have them on taking them off, is often a drastic change to my visual system that makes me feel more in control and more real. 2. Put a little bit of gravel in your shoe!! Uncomfortable yes but makes you feel soo much more grounded and real! The slight uncomfortableness will help distract you and will release endorphins that will make you feel a bit better. Feeling really anxious and dp'd? Press down a little bit on the gravel and it will anchor you! A cool trick you can do also is wear a blindfold for an entire day. Try spending one day in a blind man's shoes. We can still SEE! hallucinating sure but we are lucky. I did a whole day blindfolded on a weekend and it really makes you appreciate what you got instead of anxious of why you can't see like everyone else. 3. Omega 3's, eating right, vitamins, getting enough sleep, exercising. Quit all hallicinogens including weed also limit the caffeine but its only going to increase anxiety while your on it so it's not going to make you worse in the long run so if you enjoy it go for it . Drinking can increase anxiety but drink if you used to find it fun I find drinking fun and it stops my dp for awhile although hangovers suck alot more and increase anxiety. And don't push yourself and get worried about your health too much, if you would rather do something you enjoy than going to the gym than go have fun cuz having fun will make the dp go away faster! 4. Help others out! Dp makes you question your point in this world. I felt like I had no point to life, so I just started helping my mom with chores and volunteering everywhere. My rationality was I'm not going to enjoy anything else anyway so might as well spend the entire day raking the lawn for this old lady. I made helping others MY point to existence. I do not need to enjoy it, if I help others enjoy themselves that belief gave me JOY for the first time in so long. I started enjoying again because I accepted that I may no longer enjoy anything so any amount of joy i did feel was cherished and BAM I started living again. 5. Remember that we got DP for a REASON. It is trying to tell us something. It made me seek out god, I went to churches, temples synagoges of every religion seeking out answers, DP made me feel like there was NOTHING out there. There is definitly something out there, GOD is innate within all of us, whether islamic, catholic, aboriginal the fact is that every group of people on separate continents started believing in some form of God without conspiring together. We all have a metaphysical component attached to us we are not human beings with spiritual experiences we are spiritual beings living a human experience. Find what good DP/HPPD has done for you, it has changed your life outcome permanently so maybe you got it so you can become who you were meant to be. We do not know what the future holds but we all have a place in this universe. God makes no mistakes and no matter how crazy you think you are you are special and someone loves you. I love you. We are all in this together, all on this world with no clue why and we will only find out why when we are old and looking back on our beautiful lives and all the awesome stuff we did. No matter how small your accomplishments enjoy them, you have affected way more than you can imagine, you have changed the outcome of the world just by being here. The butterfly effect guys, everything effects everything. 6. Try to enjoy your dp. Sounds messed up right? I hate dp. And I still hate it. But guess what? We are going to have dp until we snap out of it. Dare yourself to get as dp'd as you can get. Induce it (without drugs obviously). Watch how it waivers in intensity. Notice how noone else around you seems to feel this alien sensation. Only you can. This sensation belongs to you, you do not belong to it. I found daring myself to get depersonalized made it go away. Embracing it actually brought ME back! Plan to watch a movie that you would normally enjoy and drink a tea or coffee and tell yourself "Im going to drink this caffeine and trip balls and explore myself and watch the hell out of this movie". Dp only likes to be with you when you do not want it I find. 7. Remember that DP is temporary only. It is hell and suffering beyond what I could have ever imagined before I got it. But you will snap out of it someday and be able to bask in how awesome life is once again. So remember you just have to play the waiting game and it will go away. Do not obsess over it, I did and even if you do, it will still pass the brain heals itself but if you obsess it will take longer. Once you realize that it is just a waiting game, you will feel less anxious and you will just have to ride it out it can take as little as an hour after you realize this to days to months to years (most likely a few months) but you WILL snap out of it you have your whole life to figure it out and you will! 8. Do not listen to your anxiety. Remember anxiety is telling you to do something. For me it was always telling me I have to find a cure for my DP. So since I was not finding a cure I was not getting better but more anxious. DP cures itself. Isolate the "problem thought" that triggered your anxiety. For me it was always "this shit is going to last forever and ruin my life." Than list counter evidence to your problem thought i.e. nothing lasts forever, tons of people have recovered from dp, etc. Thanks for listening I know all you guys are skeptical of information but trust me you WILL get better
  23. I am starting naltrexone tomorrow i will let you know how it goes. Hopefully it works although the side effects seem pretty bad plus I am going out drinking with some buddies 2moro and i think the naltrexone reduces the buzz you get from alcohol so we shall see. I am taking a quarter of 50 mg pill to start
