    Thanks Spartan and Jay.

My life fell apart - I had to abandon a master's program, I lost my job, I almost lost my marriage, and I lost friendships (people who wouldn't hear that psychedelics could cause harm). I look like I've aged 10 years in just over 2. Strangely, I also lost my ability to visualize and to absorb information the way I used to.

I can't tolerate most medications but I've found some success with guanfacine (related to clonidine). I still have visual snow, but the after images and unstable vision have decreased. I no longer always feel trapped in fight or flight mode, although I still struggle with anxiety.

What's funny is that I never would have tried psychedelics outside a "safe" environment. I thought this was my ticket to healing... And I would be well supported.

I'm now trying to lend my voice as a psychedelic safety advocate.

Thankyou I'm sorry to hear of your challenges!

I had to leave school during onset also.

It's great you seem to be calming your CNS and entering more of a flow state etc

So sad these people are dressed up as "healers" and just trying to be cool and profit. It really is disgusting! They do not know anything.

That's great you are doing your best to lend your voice as an advocate! There is a non-proffit doing good work, you may like to contact... www.neurogroup.org.  as they  generally welcome new team members working towards the same cause / goals.

I'm wishing you all the very best with your continued healing recovery.

P.s. another powerful modality is "shamanic breathwork" similar to holographic breathwork. It's 100% natrual no substances, tho really helpful in deep healing work.

Agreed, I was 15 at the time had taken LSD ( Purple Ohms ), even typing that gives me 'triggers', had taken 2 half paper tablets on separate occasions, than 1 full one a few weeks later and totally freaked out at home -  1 week later I had a flash-back that was a 1:1 event of the week before and it absolutely terrified me ( still does ) and BOOM, my life changed for ever, my brain never ever went back to the way it once was, and HPPD was in my life, awful - but, it is what it is, and acceptance is one of the greatest things I have ever done with this condition, and in part to finding this forum and realising I am not alone, and it is actually a thing. I am almost 48 now, scary where the years have gone.

And yeah, age definitely a factor, as in my older years of taking alot of Extacy, and LSD ( usually with Vallium to keep me calm ( crazy thinking about it ) I was much more aware of what the drugs were doing to, me. I often felt when I was high on 'E' my symptoms were absolutely gone too, which to this day I still find a mystery, but defo not enough of a mystery to take anything again!!

Wow yeahh. That sounds aweful!! Sorry to hear of your challenges.

Have a feeling my onset was around age 15.

Was too young to know anything of long term consequences... And too caught up in that world.

Main tab names I can remember were : Red dragons, Tiles, Blue gels, Robots, Microdots, Strawberries  etc etc As well as other substances...

Yes very true, acceptance is definitely a key..

I've herd a few horror stories from people mixing psychedelics with pharmaceuticals..

No way I would ever touch any psychedelics now...

I'm having real challenges sourcing medication now (K) as I do need it at this time..

Occasionally I will use other things to help me do my best to manage while things are so heightened..

    Cheers!

    It's a really complex situation.

We are the obvious example of very severe "side effects" of these drugs.

But the legit treatments are certainly helping a lot of people too and they are generally doing it in the safest manner possible (pure drugs, eye mask, minimising stimuli). I think the practitioners need to give serious thought to this sort of treatment though, especially when treating mental health issues. HPPD will happen to some of the patients and they need to be upfront about such life changing risks.

As for the trolls, don;t give them any oxygen... I'm sure most of us were in denial of any risks too, when we took drugs.

    Yeah absolutely!

Sure. Yes most def severe hppders..100%

Very true, I'm sure it will come back to bite them at some stage . One of the reasons why they should be taking more interest in research!

Absolutely, yes your right. I'm dumb founded and disgusted at times when people try to sell hppd sufferers psychedelics as treatment. That makes me angry.

Anyhow.. been challenging times for me as been super vidid strong.. Likley worst ever been with protracted stress.. no doctors will prescribe K..

At times I will turn to "other things" to try and cope.. though it's not healthy.. I just feel human beings have a human right to medical treatment..ffs most doctors in this part of the world are not knowledge to put it very nicely.

I will just have to keep looking until I find the right one. I will get though this.

    Cheers all.

Agreed, LSD was 100% the cause of mine, I remember it every day of life but cannot ponder too much on it, 33 years ago no that fateful ( and horrible ) day that changed my life forever!

Continuing frying my brain into my early 30's was probably not the best idea also to be fair, haha......

Yes LSD seems to be a main culprit.. makes two of us.

Super intense stuff.. I clearly remember the onset also.

Yes, that sounds pretty hardcore . I started using / dropping A way to young, with the influence of my older brother sadly.. so likely that is another contributing factor.

We are doing our best to raise awareness of a debilitating drug induced mental health disorder known as HPPD.

    Please see…............. for more information

Just last week there was ABC news coverage on the condition, in a attempt to raise awareness for much needed research,

  6. Yes it is. Most welcome!

Very sad to hear about Joey. RIP Joey and sincere condolences to all family etc

I was requested by the producer to be interviewed for this, unfortunately I was not able to at this time.

Hopefully this may be a catalyst for further funding to prompt the Macquarie HPPD study protocol.

  7. I'm doing my best to understand..

Are you saying that you have been given an incorrect diagnosis of schizophrenia and it's only hppd ?

If this is the case... I would get away from your silly doctor...

Find a doctor who acknowledges hppd, dump the antipsychotics and possibly start trying mediations that are most commonly used for hppd etc

Hey all, I don't doubt I've got HPPD, but was living with a schizo diagnosis for the past 7 years. I take an antipsychotic, but have no effect on my HPPD stuff. Is anyone aware of a particular antipsychotic I should try?

My symptoms started around 2014, LSD heroic dose like 5 tabs 200ug, not sure exactly, memory is lost from the antipsychotics .. DMT in 2015 worsened it and have not lived an enjoyable day since.

Involuntary antipsychotic for a schizo diagnosis and a doctor that don't acknowledge HPPD in any form.

    Any advice appreciatedcheers

I know most antipsychotics exacerbate hppd unfortunately...

It may be some trial to find one that you can tolerate.. whilst the same time.. some additional medication for you hppd if needed.

It might be an idea to change doctors to find one that acknowledges your hppd etc

I'm not a doctor.. these are just my thaughts. It's a possibility.

  9. I have severe hppd, when describing symptoms to psychiatrist...

He was like "oh you may have underlying schizophrenia also"

    This is a misdiagnosis

He has put me on a high dose of antipsychotic Seroquel 150 mg

Generally Seroquel heightens visuals, Tho turns me into a sedated zombie so I cannot react as much too them.

I don't like the side effects of Seroquel.

I came on here trying to help and wasn't expecting this kind of reception if I'm honest. The flakiness of your convictions is plain to see. We have @AlphaBeta who's vision is different when his eyes are watering and can see light refraction when he looks straight at a light source, and denies their own posting history. Also @Kalo who  appears to have taken some psychedelics then seen hppd less than a week later... and made no connection between the two.... can you not see that to an outsider to your community how suspect all this seems? You all seem to be determined that you have a serious visual health issue and appear blissfully unaware of the power of the subconscious mind. Now if my theory WAS right, it would be pretty cool wouldn't it? Bit of cognitive behavioral therapy and it would be bye bye hppd...

This forum is clearly no place for this kind of discussion,  I think I will take this to the scientists,  dr Abraham et al.

    Thanks.

Came on there trying to help... ??

Really see your empathy ozzing NOT

    More like a massive insult.

  11. I have a question

If serious hppd sufferers were monitored in hospital say for a period of 2 weeks..

Do you think the report from medical staff would pick up any significant abnormalities or pathologies?

With our condition/ illness it's so hard because everything is happening on the inside and not so many blatant physical manifestations.

    Please share your thoughts. ???
