Ghormeh Sabzi Posted April 18, 2012 Report Share Posted April 18, 2012 The benzodiazapines which are usually used to treat HPPD are Klonopon (clonazepam) and diazapam (Valium). However, I have read accounts of improvement of symptoms with Xanax (alprazolam). It is strange that Xanax has made your symptoms worse. Have you stopped the drug? If so, have the symptoms returned to how they were before taking Xanax? Maybe read up about Keppra. Do a search on this forum, lots have tried it. It's very different from benzodiapines, and has less side effects. These side effects can also be reduced with B6 supplemention. But you still need to look out for side effects. Some of them do not sound very pleasent at all. Keppra has also been shown to reduce neuropathic pain such as burning for some. I read that you experience burning on another thread.
