What is refreshing to read is the quote does not lump flashbacks and HPPD together, but describe HPPD as persisting flashbacks that do cause distress to an individual. Also note: The DSM-5 currently has no intention on changing the diagnostic criteria for HPPD, but is investigating a severity scale for the disorder. I've decided to pursue a Ph.D in clinical psychology, and am taking graduate level courses as a non-degree seeking graduate student now to prepare for application to graduate programs. I owe this sight, and you, my existence, and now I will be able to give back. I'll have the credentials to perform experiments, and I will be able to test all my hypotheses on biological factors that lead to HPPD vulnerability. Lucid206 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Share Posted January 24, 2012 good path man. just dont do it the normal way, never be afraid to look outside the box as psychology is pretty easy for people with mental disorders, and hppd's perception tweaking should give you a headstart. i had plans to become a psycho-doc, but id prolly end up making my patients a living hell at this point im not gonna amount to shit cept a few things i can call my own. g'luck in ur envors, HBB. tho DK - Once again i disagree with flashbacks being a result when flashback type experiences have happened since way before mainstream psychedelic use.. alien "abductions" are blamed on a bit of dmt being naturally released in the synapse... anyone whos ever had SLEEP PARALYSIS knows how fucked up things can go.. as i stated in another post and prolly went into great detail about it back on the old boards, is that the flashback phemonia is psychedelic users who enter a state of being and find it familiar to acid.. therefore the drugs blamed when if you study ancient psychology (1800's and prior) theres so much documented evidence of 'flashbacks' before hallucinogens were ever created. tho tribes did mushrooms, ayahusca, peyote, salvia, lsa etc for who knows how long, we didnt much listen to them as we were still in a racist witch hunt world. this is just my theory, but imo its very sound... and i allways hate seeing hppd and flashbacks in the same sentence i got hppd, lsd usage rivals most that have existed on this earth... ive never had a 'flashback' yet. Lucid206 Posted January 24, 2012 Report Share Posted January 24, 2012 BTW as for a scale... of how bad your hppd is... this makes no sence to me really.. those who live in the rainbow water realize HPPD isnt like looseing an arm.... its a bitch to those who let it, those who describe the worst symptoms always seem to have done better then those rattled with other conditions. it dose make me sick in the end tho, atleast back in the day we all helped get the word out that hppd isnt bs and it exists.. but were turning people into hypochondriacs which is something i use to try to stop at all levels but its now way to late... \ i forgot my wallet shit, fucking HPPD! i hope one day the non-biased pro-lsd anti-lsd makes the psych research papers, as of now anyone who experienced a bad trip will claim hppd cause well, me and methlabs version def lost over the years.. i still think HPPD is rare - VERY RARE. my friends even have to introduce me to their people as "psychonaut that went permafried" cause most people dont know a damn about hppd and it isnt a worry for them. many think i fake my symptoms to sound more wise on psyches. lmao a scale for hppd , now that i feel like condriticing myself since over the years ive met many people who dont even see visuals on strong amounts - but i wonder sometimes if they even are capable of getting it since psychedelics dont have to harsh an effect on the mind. these are strong drugs and even THC which MOST consider very safe .. even our gov's... can have all sorts of ill will on mental health, which is why i stick to visuals being the basis of diagnosis, ive seen friends go crazy on all sorts of drugs. many must realize - that permafry is a old term, i wont call it HPPD, cause drugs just burn some people out, and instead of wanting to be burnt out drug abuser, people sometimes conjure up some symptoms to make them realivent for hppd. and ill confront psychedelics being a scapegoat for flashbacks nonstop... stay awake and experience true sleep dep, even if its only for a few days.. this causes more HPPD phemonia then many things which are still blamed on hppd and shows that FLASHBACKS are possible brain/psyche attacks. i know im the odd man out, but hppd (even to this day after all the bs ive gone threw for it latly on the net) is a daily subject and i feel very passionate about.. im not looking for a cure, im not classifying things....... i speak from experience and the reward of the XP is a fair grasp on what psychedelics can do, what mental disorders they can cause (yes LSD can cause dp/dr on its own without hppd, it can also bring out latent schizophrenia and all sorts of wierd shit.) to the seekers of whats wrong with them, id always start with a self diagnosis in the visual field... just cause you may not have HPPD dosent mean you dont have something else drug induced.. cause once again people who describe my form of visual spectrum on hppd are ussually the last to complain, we push 'acceptance' as a cure so much, but noones wants to hear it. i know this is a ramble but i mean its been over 10 years since we started researching HPPD DK, and were still stuck at moment one cause people with horrid mental disorders from drugs(hppd isnt horrid, sometimes i can go weeks without even noticeing i have a disorder as tho my visions 20/20 , living in a wave isnt the end of the world..... anxiety disorder is prolly the worst part of it (if it was even the culprit) all in all id rather be on a HUGE amount of lsd perm then loose a toe.. HPPD for those who suffer, i think the perception disorder is what caused more problems. no offence to everyone, but i damn wish id wake up one day without things like "hypersexdrive" being blamed on hppd.... i got FULLBLOWEN visuals, ive had all the mental fog, it did take me years to shrug it off... but hppd is not terminal/not physically disabilitating......... you can fall down and hurt ur head and be worse of then people with hppd. new research needs to be done from all sides of the focus the only true problem hppd has given me is the inability to drive. for saftey of others and myself. i hope hppd will someday get more into the news in the end this hole ramble was not ment to start a pissing match, more Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As an overall condition, i'd happily trade a foot, a leg, even an arm in to get rid of this. I had a fractured skull and broken arm, I managed to get £5k... but some of the stuff on there was insane... losing 1 arm = £20k. 1 testicle = £15k (yet on £20k for the set!), both eyes = £50k......... 2 arms and 2 legs was the jackpot = £250,000 ......... I personally think this is still extremely off-base. With my experience, a "flashback" seems innacurate terminology. A flashback seems to imply a "flash", a movement from one psychological state to another. For me, this is innaccurate. My symptoms were in a permanent, fixed state that, when they did fluctuate, did so very gradually, and I think are analogous to normal fluctuations in 'regular' people who enter a transient depression. Actually, flashback is comletely stupid term. It's wrong. It construes the wrong message, especially to laymen who will still, even if they read that quote, think "oh so you have flashbacks often." No. I am in a current, perpetual state of altered sensation and cognition. Guess it's a good start. I think flashback is a word that needs to be gotten rid of entirely, possibly, because it sounds colloquial, unprofessional; it keeps HPPD as a sort of hippie thing, keeps it in that realm, when it should be completely in a medical realm, regardless of the usual connotations of the people who get HPPD (that we were, at some point, hippie-like in the past). \listen up all fellow debaters and activists who wana see something really done. a back and fourth on tv with me and anti-lsd hppd'r lol... the fight alone would spread awareness.. who wants to go viral on youtube debateing hppd from both perspectives? You could be onto something... I think a documentary would be the way to go, with various angles on hppd. HPPD will follow, then we move.100k.. start with youtube, start getting donations here.. from hallucinogen research etc 100k is obtainable.. we do want it to be professional.
