Thanks Hope... I think it would be really beneficial is you wrote a small overview of the subject and how it might help hppd, each time you post these links. Alot of us are very clueless when it comes to medical talk.

These are glutamate receptors. Glutamate is an amino acid/neurotransmitter similar to what you find in MSG chinese cooking. Glutamate is probably THE main neurotransmitter and has an excitatory property to nerve circuits. Most receptors are directly hooked up to ion channels which regulate, among other things, for the most part synaptic voltage "equilibrium". But with receptors like MgluR, it is not hooked up with the ion channels but effects other proteins, which than cause a cascade of neuro-action within the neuron.
